6 year old daughter with sleep and behavioral problems

Postby cazwilford on Tue Aug 11, 2009 10:28 pm

my daughter was born by ventouse and had many problems as a baby,i took her to an osteopath from the age of 3-4 months to about 8 months, and found this helped with the problems.unfortunately when she turned 4 and half problems have started to happen, which i have just put down to age etc.But after thinkin back i am now wondering if osteopathy could help?my daughter has a slightly twisted head(flat one side and more rounded the other)and quite often complains of headaches(which i just put down to excuses to get up etc), finds it incredibly difficult to settle to sleep at night, has difficulty concentrating and is almost hyperactive.I feel all the above has a huge knock on effect to her behaviour which makes it hard to be around her when she has her moods.I have consulted a dr but they really dont seem interested and just put it down to her being a child, but i do not see any of my friends children having these problems.
I really would appreciate your view on my problem and whether you think osteopathy may help? thanks

Thanks for your message and I'm sorry for the delay in replying.

Osteopaths who work at the Foundation's clinic have significant experience dealing with children who have issues relating to behaviour and concentration. These are the types of symptoms which are often multifactorial (have many causes). Some causes relate to physical problems with the way the body works and these are very responsive to osteopathic treatment.

We would not be able to be sure how much of an impact your daughter's physical body/mechanical strains are having on her behaviour without assessing her. It would therefore be good idea if you were to book her in for a full assessment and we will be able to give your our advice and opinion.

Best wishes
Nancy
