Is Osteopathy an option for my LO

Postby nuclearjd on Tue Jul 28, 2009 8:11 am

My 7month old boy had been really upset the past 2 weeks not wanting to feed, an upset tummy and really battling to sleep. I watched him last night and he was stretching and reaching while he was asleep. He rarely sleeps for more than a 3hour stretch. He has an inconsolable screaming cry which he has never had before and I am really worried. Our GP says that its a phase but he is losing weight and really miserable. I had a difficult labour lasting 36hours and ended up having an emergency C-section. I was told afterwards that he had been wedged in the same postion since 34 weeks (3/5 engaged) and had failed to progress during labour despite the use of Oxytocin. Will Osteopathy help him?

The details you have given about your son and his birth are very common amongst the group of patients we treat. Whilst I cannot give any specific prognosis without assessing your son, it is entirely likely that he may respond to osteopathic treatment. If however, we feel he needs a further medical opinion, we would be happy to refer him to and discuss this with your GP.

I realise that there has been a delay in my responding to your email and I hope that you can get an appointment fairly promptly because I think that it is important that he does not stay in this phase for too long.

best wishes
Nancy
