Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy

I'm quite worried about the swine flu pandemic and wonder if - next to a general healthy lifestile - an osteopathic treatment could improve and strenghten my children's immune system such that they would be more resistant to the virus or to suffer less from it if they would get it.

I cannot claim that osteopathy can prevent a child from catching flu. However, in children with vunerable immune systems osteopathic management (advice relating to diet etc and some techniques) has been seen to reduce the suseptability to illness in some children.

Osteopaths treat the body's structure to affect the way it functions, so we can influence organs by treating the structures which support them. For example, sometimes if the ribs and muscles between the ribs are too tight, they can reduce the movement of the lungs during normal every day activities. This can reduce the effectiveness of the body's lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage is essential for a healthy immune response within specific tissues.
